Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa Verdejo 2024 is named after the winery's most unique vineyard, a plot with old gobelet-trained Verdejo vines cultivated in stony, infertile soil. These conditions, together with careful vinification and ageing on the lees for four months, resulted in a wine with character, freshness and a mouth-filling texture.

General Information

Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa Verdejo 2024 comes from gobelet-trained vines with more than three decades of history, planted in soils with abundant stones and a sandy loam texture. The grapes were harvested by hand and the bunches were carefully sorted at the winery before undergoing a controlled fermentation for 15 days in stainless steel tanks at 14°C. The wine then remained on its lees for four months, gaining complexity and volume.

With more than 40 years' experience, Palacio de Bornos, part of the Bornos Viñedos y Bodegas group, has been a staunch defender of the D.O. Rueda and its iconic variety: Verdejo. Its wines, grown in the best vineyards in the region, are exported to five continents and are acclaimed by wine critics.

With its aromatic intensity and fullness on the palate, Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa Verdejo 2024 is ideal with dishes such as baked red snapper with vegetables or grilled white prawns, enhancing every bite with its freshness and elegance.

The winery

The D.O. Rueda (Valladolid) is a leading region for Spanish white wines. Its whites are very well received in European and U.S. markets, especially due to their excellent value for money. Here, Verdejo is the star grape, a native variety whose revaluation owes much to the expertise of Antonio Sanz, owner and winemaker of Bodegas Palacio de Bornos. In 1976, Antonio Sanz parted ways with a legacy tied to five generations of winemakers and founded the current Palacio de Bornos winery. Even then, he foresaw the enormous potential of the Rueda region and the characteristics that would later bring universal fame to the Verdejo variety. Today, the winery produces white wines made from this native grape and the French Sauvignon Blanc.
