Ortega Ezquerro Reserva 2016 is a complex and elegant red wine crafted by Bodegas y Viñedos Ortega Ezquerro, a family-run winery with over a century of history. This is a wine with character, born from vineyards over 70 years old located at 650 meters altitude in the Finca El Monte, where the vines sink their roots into poor soils covered with pebbles.
The coupage is dominated by Tempranillo (80%), accompanied by Garnacha (15%) and a touch of Graciano (5%). The winemaking process involves controlled fermentation and maceration for about 15 days to extract its full aromatic and structural potential. Aging lasts between 18 and 22 months in barrels (60% second-year American oak and 40% new French oak), followed by a minimum rest of 12-14 months in the bottle.
Ortega Ezquerro is a winery deeply rooted in Tudelilla, where four generations of winemakers have cultivated vines with respect and dedication. Their philosophy revolves around the concept of “vino de pueblo,” a commitment to reflect the identity of the territory through each bottle. In their dry-farmed vineyards, on stony soils and at high altitudes, wines with personality, freshness, and a marked expression of the environment are born, such as this Ortega Ezquerro Reserva 2016.
