Noctiluca 2024 is an exceptional naturally sweet white wine made entirely from the finest Moscatel de Alejandría grapes from the Viña de Reyes (Málaga). In this area, home to vines over a century old, a heroic viticulture is practiced, where harvesters use mules to collect the clusters, which are then placed in a crate for asoleo (sun-drying) for 10-12 days. A fermentation process stopped at low temperatures and an aging period of two months in stainless steel tanks at -2ºC result in a white wine full of freshness and a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness.
Viñedos Verticales is the initiative in the Axarquía region of Málaga by friends Juan Muñoz and Vicent Inat. They founded the winery in 2015, in the municipality of Moclinejo (Málaga), where their 8 hectares of vineyards are located. One of the main characteristics of the winery is the unique location of the vines. Aged between 40 and 100 years, they are planted on significant slate soil slopes at altitudes of up to 1000 meters. The winery produces high-quality, limited-production wines like this Noctiluca 2024, rooted in tradition and expertise within the D.O. Málaga y Sierras de Málaga.

Creators' opinion
Noctiluca presents a straw yellow color with golden highlights. On the nose, notes of white flowers and light citrus emerge, giving way to stone fruits and a mineral background. On the palate, its freshness stands out, perfectly integrated with its sweetness. A very aromatic and varietal wine, fresh, with great acidity and low alcohol content, making it very easy to drink and not cloying at all.
Viñedos Verticales is the project in the Axarquía region of Málaga by two friends, Juan Muñoz, a third-generation viticulturist and winemaker in the area, and the winemaker Vicente Inat. The winery began its journey in 2015, in the town of Moclinejo, where the small plots that make up its 8 hectares of vineyard are located.
As its name suggests, the main hallmark of Viñedos Verticales is the unique location of the vines they work with. Aged between 40 and 100 years, these vines are planted on steep slopes with slate soils, at an altitude of between 400 and 1000 meters above sea level, which also exerts its influence due to its proximity. Because of the rugged terrain, the viticulture practiced is traditional and includes mule plowing, with moscatel being the predominant variety, complemented by other varieties such as Pedro Ximénez, and the more minor doradilla and rome.
The work in the vineyard, respectful of the environment, continues in the winery with a winemaking process free of artifices and unnecessary additions, based on natural fermentations and aging in wooden vats, century-old foudres, and concrete tanks. A philosophy committed to tradition and its own roots that, under the D.O. Málaga y Sierras de Málaga, produces wines of great quality and limited production, with a distinctive personality, a mineral profile, and remarkable longevity.
