Neo Colección Privada 2021 comes from an Excellent vintage in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It was grown on very old (50 to 60 years) gobelet-trained Tempranillo vines in the privileged area of La Horra (Burgos), with a limited yield of 3,500 kg per hectare. The grapes were picked by hand in small 16-kg crates during the first half of October. Maceration took place for 14 days at a controlled temperature. Finally, the wine was barrel aged for 14 months (70% French and 30% American oak).
Bodegas y Viñedos Neo (1999) is one of the most dynamic firms in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It started out in an old watermill in Aranda de Duero (Burgos) and high scores from influences as important as Robert Parker (The Wine Advocate) and Jancis Robinson and publications such as Decanter attracted worldwide attention in record time.
In 2005 it moved into new facilities in Castrillo de la Vega (Burgos), a modern, cutting-edge winery equipped with the latest winemaking technology and a fun décor. The firm is also famous for its connection with music, as its founders – Javier Ajenjo, José Luis Simón and Julio César Conde, childhood friends – are mad about music. In fact that winery even has a recording studio. But the secret of Neo’s success undoubtedly lies in its outstanding vineyards, its respect for grape-growing traditions and limited intervention in the vineyard.

Music, and especially rock and roll, is the other great passion of Neo’s creators. So much so that the winery features a recording studio designed by Philip Newell, the same designer of the legendary Abbey Road studio known by The Beatles.
