La Mujer Caballo Azul 2021 is a fantastic limited-production red wine made from grapes of the recovered arco (moristel) variety, sourced from a small plot planted in 1972 on the slopes of the Sierra de l´Ombria. A fresh and aromatic single-varietal wine, floral and fruity, with a spiced and persistent finish, easy to drink and highly appealing.

La Mujer Caballo Azul 2021 is a fantastic red wine made from 100% moristel grapes, under the D.O. Valencia, praised by critics (93 Parker points in its 2019 edition). Its outstanding quality is rooted both in its terroir of origin and the meticulous vineyard work: stony, sandy-loam, and fresh soils, cultivated by the winery Fil.Loxera y Cia in the Sierra de l’Ombria (Alicante), following an environmentally respectful philosophy and minimal intervention work, form the basis of this magnificent single-varietal wine.

For the production of La Mujer Caballo Azul 2021, manual harvesting of the grapes was carried out, followed by partial destemming and gentle crushing. Once in the winery, the must was fermented in a 750-liter vat, and the resulting wine was aged for 8 months in used oak barrels for refinement.

This magnificent Valencian red wine, fresh, appealing, mineral, and Mediterranean, will be the ideal companion for all kinds of appetizers, salads, and pasta dishes.

Tasting notes

Cherry red color, with medium layer, glyceric and bright.

Fresh and deep nose where aromas of flower petals and red fruits appear, along with creamy and very soft toasted notes.

On the palate, it is fresh and light. Soft and integrated tannins, yet mature. It is a fresh, appealing, and easy-to-drink wine, with a deep, spicy, and mineral finish.

The winery

Founded in 2011 in Fontanars dels Alforins (Valencia), Fil.loxera & Cía is a small winery born from the partnership of José Ramón Domenech, Pilar Esteve, and Joan B. Llobell, three friends with more than a decade of experience in the world of viticulture.

From their micro-plots located in the Clariano subzone of the D.O. Valencia, planted with monastrell, tempranillo, garnacha tintorera, and other native varieties in recovery such as arco, ull de perdiu, or valensí, come authentic garage wines with a distinctive personality, character, and absolutely original names, such as El Cordero y las Vírgenes or Beberás de la Copa de tu Hermana, inspired by the Bible, as it is one of the books with the most references to wine in history.
