Montenovo 2023 is a single-variety white wine made from godello, which Bodegas Valdesil named with the Galician word 'montenovo' (meaning young mountain) to refer to its origin, the hills flanking the Sil river valley. Enjoy this pure godello, stripped of artifices.

Montenovo 2023 was born from godello grapes harvested from vineyards between 5 and 20 years old, in the municipalities of Rubiá, O Barco, Vilamartín, A Rúa, and Freixido, to present itself as a young wine with intoxicating aromatic intensity, refreshing natural acidity, and marked minerality.
Bodegas Valdesil is one of the architects of the resurgence of godello in the D.O.Valdeorras. And they have done so by producing magnificent single-varietals like this Montenovo 2023. After the strict selection of the grapes, both in the vineyard and in the winery, and a brief maceration of them, fermentation was carried out with wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature to create a white wine with delicious aromatic complexity and good aging potential in the bottle.
In appearance, the Montenovo white wine displays a straw yellow color, with slight greenish reflections.
Elegant nose of ripe stone fruit and white flowers, with citrus and mineral touches.
The taste phase is distinguished by the great freshness and elegance it unfolds. Pleasant and tasty finish.
Valdesil has been one of the key players in the recovery of Godello in Galicia, an excellent native variety capable of competing in quality with any white grape in our country. The winery, located in Córgomo, in the municipality of Vilamartín de Valdeorras in Ourense, has uniquely harnessed the slate slopes of the region, which are responsible for the unmistakable minerality of the wines from this area.
Valdesil is owned by the third generation of the Prada Gayoso family, a family with a long winemaking tradition that, just over a decade ago, decided to recover all the "pezas" (plots) of Godello that had belonged to them in the past. In just a few years and through hard work, the winery has established itself as one of the most important wine producers in the D.O. Valdeorras, with its influence extending to Bierzo with remarkable success. The responsibility for the winery's production lies with the Prada Gayoso family, supported externally by Cristina Mantilla in oenology and José Ramón Lissarrague in viticulture.
