The D.O. Rueda and Verdejo are practically synonymous. This grape variety is largely responsible for its fame. Monopole Verdejo 2024, 100% Verdejo, is a superb quality wine that’s highly affordable. It was made from selected Verdejo grapes that were harvested at night to maintain their freshness. Following gentle pressing at the winery, fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature to enhance the extraction and preservation of the fruity and floral aromas typical of this variety.
Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) is one of the iconic firms based in the station district of Haro, the great wine capital of La Rioja. Founded in 1879 by brothers Raimundo and Eusebio Real de Asúa, it boasts a long and distinguished history. It’s successfully combined tradition and innovation to produce wines that are currently at the forefront of Rioja reds and have impressed international critics: for example, they’ve won several 100 Parker-point scores and the best wine of the year prize awarded by Wine Spectator.
Over time, CVNE has grown into a wine group with several wineries and is present in the most important Denominaciones, such as Rueda and Ribera del Duero.
Monopole Verdejo 2024 (D.O. Rueda) pairs beautifully with smoked salmon or a rice dish with seafood or fish.
The Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España is one of the great symbols of the Estación de Haro neighborhood, the great capital of Rioja wine. Founded in 1879 by the brothers Raimundo and Eusebio Real de Asúa, CVNE (as it is known worldwide) can proudly claim to have remained at the top throughout its history. Ten years after its creation, the winery inaugurated an impressive barrel hall designed by the studio of Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. By 1900, it was already producing nearly 80,000 bottles, an unthinkable feat for the time. The 20th century established CVNE as an institution of Spanish wine.
Over 140 years, it has successfully combined tradition and innovation to create wines that today are the standard-bearers of Rioja reds and have garnered international critical acclaim. Its Imperial Gran Reserva 2004 made history when it was chosen as Wine of the Year 2013 by the prestigious American magazine Wine Spectator, marking the first time a Spanish wine received this recognition.
Since its foundation, CVNE has expanded its heritage and grown with avant-garde projects at different times in its history, such as the creation of Viñedos del Contino or Viña Real.
