Matarromera is one of the greatest and most emblematic wines of Ribera del Duero, and a great brand already consolidated in our Club Collection. Now comes the ninth vintage of what is, without a doubt, one of the most desired wines by our members: Matarromera Club 2022. A red wine that follows the line of previous vintages: Tempranillo from the Valbuena de Duero area – a mecca of quality from Ribera del Duero – and aged for 12 months in oak barrels; but this time from a vintage with a warm profile, which translates into a red of greater intensity, with a magnificent structure and a very round mouth. Matarromera and Vinoselección go hand in hand, exclusively, for our members. A luxury.

For more than a decade, Matarromera Club has been one of your favourite wines. A red wine that is part of the Club Collection: exclusive labels made by some of the most representative wineries in this country for Vinoselección. In this ninth edition, starring Matarromera Club 2022, the harvest we propose was rated as Very Good in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. A vintage with a warmer profile than the previous one, ideal for producing aged wines.
Made with tempranillo grapes, after manual harvesting in small boxes of the best bunches, the grapes were transported to the winery, where traditional production ensued at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 12 months in oak barrels, finally refining in the bottle before being presented exclusively at Vinoselección.
In these more than 30 years of existence, Bodegas Familiares Matarromera has established itself as a winning project with national and international prestige. Its success is based on privileged vineyards within a mythical area in the Ribera del Duero (Valbuena de Duero). Precisely because it’s a firm that makes a difference in Spanish wine, we chose Matarromera to inaugurate our 'Club' concept of more exclusive labels. Now we’re continuing this project with the 2022 vintage.
Matarromera Club 2022 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is ideal to pair with pork in red wine or with grilled lamb chops.
2021 was an outstanding vintage for offering you this Matarromera Club 2021 and making it coincide with a very special celebration – Vinoselección’s 50th anniversary. Like all these wines, it’s a Tempranillo that lives up to its prestigious name, reflecting the excellence and quality of the wines produced in our Valbuena de Duero winery. The name Matarromera was coined many years ago to describe an aim and is above all a plot, a unique terroir, a distinctive brand with a well-established reputation for quality that is identified and positioned on the basis of its attributes and values. This exclusive wine reflects the character of the limestone soils of the foothills of the middle valley of the Duero, the result of the good work of Matarromera in an excellent year, 2021, when the good ripening of the grapes in a hot summer produced a long-lasting vintage with excellent concentration.
Following the winemaking tradition of his Castilian ancestors, Carlos Moro founded the Matarromera winery in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid) in 1988 with a clear objective: to create quality wines using the most advanced technology while respecting traditional winemaking methods. The main challenge undertaken by Carlos Moro was his commitment to new barrels for aging his wines, an initiative that was novel at the time in Ribera del Duero. Another key to Matarromera's success is its excellent vineyards, located in a legendary area of the D.O. Ribera del Duero: Valbuena de Duero.
Matarromera was the first winery of Carlos Moro and the seed of one of the most important wine groups in this country: Bodegas Familiares Matarromera. The first red wine produced by the winery—an ancestor of the brand we now know as Melior—achieved the title of "Best Wine in the World" at the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) competition held in Turkey in 1995. Currently, Bodega Matarromera has 150 hectares of its own vineyards and controls an additional 160 hectares.
