Martínez Corta Reserva 2020 originates from 100% tempranillo vineyards located in Uruñuela and Cenicero, on calcareous soils, at an average altitude of 500 m. After a manual harvest, fermentation took place over 15 days in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. The wine was then aged in French oak barrels (3 to 5 years old) for 16 months, and completed its maturation with a long period of bottle aging.
Founded in 2005, Bodegas y Viñedos Martínez Corta is backed by four generations of a family of winegrowers in Rioja Alta, specifically in the Uruñuela area. A family project that began with the planting of the first vineyards on the slopes located along the Najerilla riverbank, near the villages of San Asensio and Torremontalbo. Today, it encompasses 80 hectares of vineyards situated in a privileged area between the Ebro and Najerilla rivers. Most of these are very old and centenary vines, growing on poor yet healthy calcareous and clay soils, which encourage low yields of high quality.
The winery facilities, surrounded by vineyards, feature a distinctive octagonal layout. Their wine range respects the classic character of the region while being well-adapted to contemporary tastes. Currently, Martínez Corta is part of the Bornos Bodegas y Viñedos group.
Martínez Corta Reserva 2020 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) will be an excellent pairing for stewed beans with partridge or Beef Wellington.
