This distinguished Rioja bears the seal of Familia Martínez Zabala (formerly Grupo Faustino), one of the most iconic family wineries in Spain, with over 160 years of history. Marqués de Vitoria represents their ‘boutique’ winery in the prestigious Rioja Alavesa region.

General Information
Marqués de Vitoria Reserva 2021 is a single-varietal Tempranillo born from a vintage that delivered wines with great aromatic intensity, structure, and color, providing excellent aging potential. The grapes come from an estate located in Oyón, Rioja Alavesa. Fermentation at a controlled temperature of 28ºC and aging for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
Marqués de Vitoria is located in Oyón (Rioja Alavesa), about 60 kilometers from Vitoria, the provincial capital with which it shares its name. This winery has been producing wines in this subzone of the D.O.Ca. Rioja since 1995, using estate-owned vineyards situated in the municipalities of Oyón, Barriobusto, and Mendavia. Specifically, this Reserva comes from the vineyard the winery owns in Oyón, at an altitude of 450 m.
The winery building, which spans over eight thousand square meters, stands out for its impressive aging hall with a wooden roof. Additionally, the facilities house approximately 96,000 bottles of wines that are finishing their refinement and will be released to the market in the coming years. On the label of this red wine, you can see an illustration of the winery itself and the town of Oyón, with which it has an inseparable bond.
Marqués de Vitoria Reserva 2021 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) will be the ideal companion for a peppered entrecôte or a red bean stew.
Tasting notes
Clean and bright, with a beautiful cherry red color evolving to garnet and medium depth.
Good intensity on the nose with pleasant notes of red and forest fruits, well integrated with the medra. Hints of bottle aging (cedar).
On the palate, it shows good intensity and complexity. Balanced. Fine tannins but with good acidity. Long finish with fruity and barrel nuances.
