General Information

The Finca Manso de Velasco, named in honor of the former governor of Chile and founder of the city of Curicó, is the birthplace of Manso de Velasco 2019, a superb wine whose intensity, depth, and elegant nuances place it among the best Chilean varietals of this Bordeaux-origin grape.

Miguel Torres Chile meticulously tends the 15 hectares of this century-old vineyard from which Manso de Velasco 2019 originates. Its deep, slightly stony, and sandy soils result in limited yields, producing grapes with great typicity and concentration. These qualities were fully leveraged through careful winemaking, culminating in 18 months of aging in French oak barrels from Nevers. Appreciate its undeniable elegance by pairing it with fine roasted meats and game dishes.

Tasting notes

Manso de Velasco presents an intense dark ruby color.

On the nose, it reveals classic aromas of black fruit preserves and hints of leather.

Very elegant on the palate, with soft and prolonged tannins. A finish with fruity and spicy echoes complemented by fine notes of toasted bread.

The winery

Miguel Torres Chile was the first foreign winemaking company to establish itself in this country of the Southern Cone. The Torres family, a centenary saga with a presence in the Spanish denominations Penedès, Priorat, Catalunya, Costers del Segre, Conca de Barberà, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Rías Baixas, and Rioja, made the leap to the New World in 1979 to start a new project in the Curicó Valley, attracted by the great winemaking potential of Chile.

Currently, the company owns more than a thousand hectares of vineyards, distributed across plots with diverse climatic and soil characteristics, enabling the cultivation of different varieties and producing highly expressive wines with intense varietal character. Miguel Torres Chile has fully consolidated its position in the country, and its wines are now present in over a hundred other countries. Since 2010, Miguel Torres Maczassek, a member of the fifth generation of the family, has held the presidency of the company. Among his objectives are increasing exports and maintaining the company’s successful trajectory, marked by innovation and a commitment to organic farming and fair trade.
