The Maison M. Chapoutier, located in Tain-l'Hermitage in the Rhône region of France, is an internationally renowned winery with a history dating back to 1808. It was in 1879 that Polydor Chapoutier acquired his first vineyards, marking the beginning of a winemaking tradition that has endured for generations. Currently, Michel Chapoutier leads the winery with a bold vision and a commitment to the authenticity of the terroir.
The winery owns 160 hectares of vineyards, including 34 hectares in the prestigious Hermitage appellation. The vineyards are cultivated following biodynamic principles, respecting the natural cycles of the soil and avoiding the use of pesticides and herbicides. The land is treated with great respect, without chemical fertilizers, allowing for low yields but of high quality. The altitude and climate of the Rhône Valley enhance the authentic expression of the grape varieties.
Maison Chapoutier is characterized by its preference for single-varietal wines. Among the varieties cultivated are syrah, marsanne, garnacha tinta, among others, depending on the appellation.
The winery combines tradition and innovation in its facilities. It uses traditional winemaking methods, indigenous yeasts, and avoids low-temperature fermentation. The labels of its wines have included braille since 1996, a pioneering initiative in the sector.
