O Luar Do Sil Godello Sobre Lías 2023 is a sensational, smooth, deep, and delicate white wine that stands out for its aromas of fresh white fruit, its mineral tension, and its creaminess and volume, with a very long and pleasant finish. The complexity of this white wine, full of nuances, comes from its Atlantic condition, the varietal minerality of the godello, and the philosophy with which Pago de los Capellanes works in Valdeorras. Its subtlety and balance will captivate you.

O Luar Do Sil Godello sobre Lías 2023 originates from La Mallada, a plot in the town of Larouco (Orense), where godello vines of unquestionable quality are established. The fragmented granite soil with a sandy character and a particularly rainy vintage in winter, lasting well into spring, define the character of this fantastic godello sobre lías.
The great expression of the variety and the character of the terroir is possible due to the practice of traditional agriculture with manual harvesting and a measured vinification: The work in the winery began with destemming the grapes, a gentle crushing, and a pre-fermentation maceration to preserve the aromas. After that, fermentation started in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, keeping the wine in contact with its lees for 6 months with weekly stirrings, aiming to achieve greater unctuosity and power.
O Luar Do Sil is the new winery of Pago de los Capellanes in the D.O. Valdeorras. It has 12 hectares in the heart of Orense, where they produce 3 fantastic wines from the godello grape: a young one, another fermented in barrel, and this godello sobre lías.
Due to its great length and personality, O Luar Do Sil Godello sobre Lías 2023 pairs perfectly with seafood dishes, fish such as salmon and cod, brothy rice dishes, and soft cheese.
O Luar Do Sil Godello Sobre Lías displays a greenish-golden color, with abundant tears, clean and bright.
Enveloping and sensual nose, presenting varietal aromas of godello, highlighting fresh white fruit, along with pastry notes from its contact with the lees, white flowers, and balsamic hints.
With an enveloping, powerful, and fresh mouthfeel and a very marked mineral character, it is a delicate, sweet, and long-lasting wine in its finish.
Pago de los Capellanes is a family-owned winery located in the heart of the D.O. Ribera del Duero. A small vineyard of the native tempranillo variety was the beginning of a dream that the restless minds of Paco Rodero and Conchita Villa turned into reality by founding the winery in 1996 in a unique setting among vineyards and century-old walnut trees. Paco, along with his father Doroteo, cared for this family vineyard, a plot that once belonged to the chaplains of the village.
The love for the land is the driving force behind a constantly evolving project. Their different vineyards on diverse soils, along with the climate and conditions of this privileged wine-growing area, allow them to create artisanal wines based on the deepest respect for the land and traditional viticulture. Pago de los Capellanes strives for the maximum expressiveness of the fruit, intensity of flavor, and enveloping smoothness. Each of their award-winning wines is a reflection of their terroir.
In the mid-1990s, the couple formed by Paco Rodero and Conchita Villa, owners of several hectares of vineyards near Pedrosa de Duero, decided to build a winery to vinify the fruit of their vines. This is how Pago de los Capellanes was born, a benchmark for Ribera del Duero and Spanish wine, now celebrating 27 years of history.
The founders' daughter, Estefanía Rodero, joined the family business in 2015, and today she represents the new generation leading the winery after the passing of Paco Rodero in 2023.
