General Information

Produced by Juan Francisco Fariña Pérez, Los Loros Moscatel Seco 2021, is an exceptional single-varietal Moscatel wine that comes from a single plot vineyard located at 150 meters above sea level, in the town of Arafo in Tenerife (D.O. Valle de Güímar). Its manual harvest and selection, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, and subsequent aging of the wine in French oak barrels for 7 months with its lees, are the keys to offering a Canarian white wine with personality, balance, and flavor.

The El Borujo estate, located in the aforementioned town of Arafo, is situated at an altitude close to 800 meters above sea level, and is the origin of the vineyard owned by the Juan Francisco Fariña Pérez winery. A family firm founded in 1999 with the aim of producing, in an artisanal manner, wines that express the terroir of the Canary Islands, using native varieties such as Listan Blanco, Marmajuelo, Albillo Criollo, Gual, Vijariego Blanco, or the Moscatel that forms the basis of Los Loros Moscatel Seco 2021.

Tasting notes

Visually, it presents a straw yellow color of certain intensity, clean and bright

On the nose, it is expressive, with notes of white flowers, jasmine, dry herbs, and dry stone.

On the palate, it is tasty, fruity, balanced, and with a fine bitterness.

The winery

The El Borujo estate, located in the municipality of Arafo in Tenerife, at an altitude of between 750 and 800 meters above sea level, is home to the vineyard owned by Bodega Juan Francisco Fariña Pérez, a family-run winery founded in 1999.

The winery produces handcrafted wines under the D.O. Valle de Güímar, which perfectly express the native grape varieties (listán blanco, marmajuelo, albillo criollo, gual, moscatel, or vijariego blanco), the climate, and the terroir of this area of the Canary Islands.
