Loia Blanco 2023 is a wine from Abadía Da Cova made from the native white varieties of the Ribeira Sacra, godello and albariño. Resulting from a double selection of the fruit in the vineyard and in the winery, it ferments in 500-liter French oak barrels, where it remains for an additional 6 months for aging. The result is a complex, fruity, and powerful Galician white wine that is balanced and fresh on the palate, with a long and persistent finish.

General Information

Loia Blanco 2023 faithfully reflects the expression of two of the most representative grape varieties of Ribeira Sacra: albariño and godello.

The team at Abadía Da Cova, part of the Adegas Moure group, harvests the grapes that make up the blend of Loia Blanco 2023 from two vineyards arranged on terraces, facing south and with a slope of more than 50% that necessitates the so-called heroic viticulture, with exhaustive one hundred percent manual work. The godello vineyards in the Montefurado area (20 years old and set on slate soils) and the albariño vineyards of the Cuñas estate (45 years old, on granite soils), contributed their qualities to a wine that underwent a short aging in French oak barrels for its final profiling.

“Loia” means in Galician “rumor that spreads in secret” and on the illustration of its label, this word can be seen represented in sign language and its transcription in Braille. Abadía Da Cova Loia Blanco pairs well with appetizers, poultry, and fish.
