Livio Felluga Chardonnay 2022 is an aromatic single-varietal white wine produced by the Livio Felluga winery in the Italian denomination Colli Orientali del Friuli. Refined, complex, and velvety, with a myriad of floral and fruity aromas, it showcases the excellent adaptation of the French grape variety to the marl and sandstone terroir of the Friuli hills. Full of freshness and versatile in pairing.
Livio Felluga Chardonnay 2022 is an exceptional Chardonnay that confirms the outstanding expression this grape variety develops in Colli Orientali, in the northwest of Italy. The grapes that nurture this white wine from Livio Felluga come from estate-owned vineyards on marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin, stratified under the seas over millennia, which give them very distinctive acidity and minerality.
The harvest took place during the second half of September, manually, and the selected grapes were transported to the winery in small boxes to preserve their excellent qualities. For the vinification of Livio Felluga Chardonnay 2022, the fruits were carefully destemmed and briefly macerated. After pressing, the obtained must was subjected to clarification through decantation. Fermentation, at controlled temperature, occurred in stainless steel tanks, and the process concluded with the wine resting on its lees for six months, aiming to gain complexity, flavor, and creaminess. Once bottled, the wine rested for two months in temperature-controlled rooms for refinement. The result is a smooth, balanced, long, and refreshing white wine.
Livio Felluga was one of the great figures in the world of wine in Italy. A promoter of the wines from the Friuli hills, he was considered in the sector as the ‘patriarch’ of viticulture in the Rosazzo region. Livio Felluga had the dream, since the 1930s, of creating a winery bearing his name in this area of northwest Italy. However, it was not until after World War II that he managed to establish the Livio Felluga winery. Today, it is led by the sixth generation of the family and owns an estate spanning over 160 hectares. Moreover, the brand is one of the most representative in the country, producing some of the best wines in all of Italy.
This complex, enveloping, and refreshing Italian white wine is classified under the D.O.C. Colli Orientali del Friuli. An ideal wine as an aperitif and to accompany starters, white meats, fresh cheeses, and fish dishes.
Livio Felluga Chardonnay displays a straw-yellow color.
Intense, broad, and enveloping nose with floral notes of orange blossom, jasmine, and elderflower, accompanied by white fruit such as ripe apple and peach. Yellow tropical fruits like pineapple and papaya. Warm hints of pastry cream and candied fruit.
