General Information

If you're looking for an expressive and easy-to-enjoy white wine, Léon Beyer Gewürztraminer 2021 might be one of the most recommended options on the market. A single-varietal white wine made from gewürztraminer from an exceptional Grand Cru Classé vineyard located in Eguisheim, a town in the Upper Rhine, at the heart of the Alsace region (France).

The Léon Beyer winery showcases, with this wine, its great viticulture work and meticulous control in the field, where the grapes are hand-harvested at the optimal moment of ripeness. Once in the winery, the wine is produced in different batches that are fermented separately. The result is a full-bodied and well-structured white, notably aromatic; qualities that make it one of the most well-known wines of Alsace.

Léon Beyer is one of the most emblematic wineries in the Alsace region. Recognized as a classic among French producers, the history of this wine house dates back to 1580, with over 14 generations of experience. The maison Léon Beyer currently offers a great selection of Alsatian wines and exports 80% of its production to more than 60 countries worldwide.

With a limited production of 65,000 bottles and great aging potential, Léon Beyer Gewürztraminer 2021 is a fresh and balanced white wine framed within the A.O.C. Alsace. Ideal to accompany all kinds of appetizers, exotic and spicy dishes, aged cheeses, rice dishes, and preparations such as Provençal-style tuna, curried monkfish, lacquered duck, couscous, tandoori chicken, tacos, or lamb tagine.

Tasting notes

To the eye, Léon Beyer Gewürztraminer is a pale yellow wine with greenish reflections, clean and bright.

On the nose, it unfolds fruity and tropical aromas, among which lychees, pineapple, and mango stand out.

On the palate, it is dry, full-bodied, and well-structured. Powerful and seductive, with a mild acidity and sometimes a slight sweetness. Persistent and pleasant finish that leaves a refreshing sensation.

Léon Beyer
Winery

Léon Beyer is an iconic French winery located in the heart of Alsace, a region internationally renowned for its outstanding white wines. It is one of the most famous names among the winemakers of the area and a true classic among French producers.

Léon Beyer is based in the town of Eguisheim, a charming village with a winemaking tradition that dates back to 1580, when the art of viticulture was passed down from generation to generation with excellent results. There, around 1867, Emilio Beyer decided to establish the winery. Today, the company is run by Marc and Yann Beyer, son and grandson of the renowned Léon Beyer, who for many years was the person in charge of leading this prestigious winemaking project.

The family-owned vineyards are located on rich and diverse lands that benefit from a unique and ideal climate for cultivating native grape varieties such as riesling, gewurztraminer, pinot gris, sylvaner, muscat, and pinot blanc. High-quality grapes that faithfully reflect the identity of each terroir, thanks to the combination of different soils and specific microclimates. Notably, Léon Beyer owns some of the best vineyards in Alsace, such as Grand Cru Eichberg and Grand Cru Pfersigberg.

The winery is carved into the hillside beneath its vineyards. The wines produced there are made following strict rules for pressing, vinification, and aging. Thanks to meticulous work in the field and the facilities, the Alsatian winery achieves wines with character, freshness, harmony, and a complexity that evolves over the years.

In addition to the characteristic Alsatian white wines, which are dry and fruity but have a distinctive and easily recognizable style, the French house also produces what they call ‘eau de vie’ (water of life), a type of fruit brandy that is very famous in the Alsace region.

Léon Beyer produces around one million bottles per year. Eighty percent of this production is exported beyond its borders to more than 60 countries. Some of their finest wines can be found on the wine lists of the best restaurants in the world.
