General Information

Legaris Reserva 2019 is a single-variety wine made from Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes, carefully selected from small bush vines aged between 40 and 90 years, from 4 villages in the Burgos region: Peñaranda del Duero, Olmedillo de Roa, Roa, and Hontoria de Valdearados. With an average altitude between 850 and 1000 meters, these old vines are cultivated on low-fertility soil but with a well-defined personality. The high quality and ripeness standards of Bodegas Legaris result in only 7 or 8 vintages of this magnificent Reserva red wine being produced each decade.

Bodegas Legaris is one of the leading wineries in Ribera del Duero. An innovative winery that uses cutting-edge techniques and is located in a privileged area with a unique climate. Its wines, like this Legaris Reserva, arise from the great richness and variety of its soils, the quality of its grapes, and meticulous vinification; Legaris wines express the unique character of Ribera del Duero.

The production of this red wine under the D.O. Ribera del Duero started with high-quality grapes harvested manually in 15 kg boxes. Once in the winery, the grapes were destemmed and transferred to 5200-liter stainless steel tanks, where vinification was carried out separately according to the different origins of the fruit. After fermentation, the wine from each tank was racked into new French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging took place until the final blending. 18 months of aging and a gentle clarification completed the production process of Legaris Reserva 2019, a red wine that pairs well with Castilian lamb, roasted or grilled red meats, game stews, and aged cheeses.

Tasting notes

Very intense cherry red color with garnet reflections.

On the nose, it presents aromas of very ripe black fruit, intermingled with licorice, and fine balsamic and toasted nuances.

On the palate, it is a velvety wine, with mature tannin, very broad, powerful, warm, and with a long aftertaste.

The winery

Bodegas Legaris
Legaris Winery, part of the Raventós Codorníu group, is located in Curiel de Duero (Valladolid), one of the most privileged areas for cultivating the Tempranillo variety in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Designed by Domingo Triay, the renowned architect envisioned a building that maintains the connection between the exterior and the interior: the luminous vineyard landscape effortlessly blends into the intimate interior of a winery that is fully functional for the winemaking processes.
