Kientzler Pinot Gris Grand Cru Kirchberg 2017 stands out for its flavor, tension, and mineral depth. These characteristics are made possible thanks to the unique conditions for producing this type of wine found in the northeast of France, along the Rhine River.
In this very area, Domaine Kientzler has been perfecting the art of crafting great white wines since the 19th century. The pinot gris that the Club brings to you originates from a small plot (1.5 hectares), classified as Grand Cru, located on a hillside with sandy and limestone soils, at an altitude between 270 and 350 meters, in the village of Ribeauvillé. The meticulous winemaking process, which included 12 months of bottle aging, did the rest, and all these elements came together in a gastronomic, semi-dry wine that is refined, structured, mineral, and with a pronounced saline touch.
According to the winery, led by brothers Thierry and Eric Kientzler, in its early years, Kientzler Pinot Gris Grand Cru Kirchberg 2017 will showcase its freshness on the palate and aromaticity. Between 5 and 10 years after its harvest, it will reveal greater dimension and mineral complexity, and beyond a decade, it will become increasingly dry and unveil all the brilliance characteristic of a Grand Cru from Alsace.
It displays a straw yellow color.
On the nose, pure aromas of white fruit dominate.
On the palate, it shows uncommon breadth, depth, and acidity for a single-varietal pinot noir. Long, prolonged, and mineral finish, in a semi-dry balance.
