This young Verdejo is a commercial success and a hit with consumers, ranking among the best wines of the D.O. Rueda year after year. It's produced by José Pariente (1998), a family business now run by the second generation, and is the cornerstone of the winery, its most important wine. The new vintage, José Pariente Verdejo 2024, has been awarded 92 points by British Master of Wine Tim Atkin, one of the most influential critics. The vineyards the family own, planted between 1962 and 1991, together with the selection of grapes from old vines, results in a complex wine that reflects the diversity of the soils of the D.O. Rueda. The previous vintage was chosen as one of the 10 best-value wines in the world for around £10 by the leading wine portal Wine Searcher.

José Pariente Verdejo 2024 comes from Verdejo vines that grow in poor, pebbly soils where the continental climate forces the plants to drive their roots deeper into the subsoil in search of water. The extreme temperatures cause the grapes to ripen slowly, maintaining good acidity.
The musts were fermented in different formats: stainless steel, concrete and wooden vats. The wines were then aged on their lees for 5 months before being blended. The blend is what makes this famous Verdejo white so special.
Bodegas José Pariente was founded in 1998 under the leadership of María Victoria Pariente, who named the winery after her father, also a winegrower and winemaker. The firm is now run by the second generation of the family: Ignacio and Martina Prieto Pariente, María Victoria's children. The current facilities came into operation in 2008 and are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. They command a panoramic view of the vineyards, a total of 40 hectares spread between the municipalities of Rueda and La Seca on a plain at an altitude of 750 metres above sea level. All the vineyards were harvested and vinified separately.
José Pariente Verdejo 2024 (D.O. Rueda) pairs well with sea bream in a salt crust, rice dishes with fish and seafood and Ibérico ham.
In the visual phase, it displays a bright straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. Elegant, fresh and complex. It has markedly fruity aromas encompassing the range of white fruits and citrus fruits, as well as fennel and woodland with aniseed and balsamic undertones, against a minerally background. More fresh fruit notes on the attack. Mouth-coating, slightly sweet and elegant with a subtle hint of bitterness in the finish that’s characteristic of the Verdejo variety, underpinned by a good acidity. Its great structure makes it long lasting. This vintage is particularly full on the palate. Complex, intense finish.
Bodegas José Pariente (1998) brings together three generations of a family dedicated to winemaking. The new winery facilities were inaugurated in 2008, offering a magnificent panoramic view of their vineyards, a total of 40 hectares located between the areas of Rueda and La Seca (Valladolid), on a plateau at 750 meters altitude. In addition to verdejo, they cultivate the other white grape variety prominent in Rueda: sauvignon blanc.
In their oldest vineyards, planted in goblet style, they practice manual harvesting, allowing for an initial selection of the grapes in the field. Furthermore, the harvesting of verdejo largely takes place at night to preserve the fruit's maximum aromatic intensity.
