Hito Rosado 2023 is one of the most subtle, clear, and elegant rosé wines produced in Ribera del Duero. A rosé designed from the same tempranillo that stars in the great and celebrated red wines of the Cepa 21 winery.
The fruits that make up Hito Rosado come from the 50 hectares of tinto fino (tempranillo), from a clone of old vines originating from Pesquera del Duero, which Bodegas Cepa 21 has planted in calcareous and clay-stony soils in Castrillo de Duero (Valladolid). From this excellent raw material, the must was extracted and macerated for 24 hours along with the skins, a necessary process that gave the wine its characteristic rosé tone. This was followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, where it remained for several months with its fine lees.
Cepa 21 is the youngest, most modern, and innovative winery of the Moro family in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. The firm applies the same philosophy that has propelled its parent company, the prestigious Emilio Moro winery, nationally and internationally: creating wines closely tied to their terroir, betting on precision viticulture. Hito Rosado 2023 is the materialization of these guidelines, a suggestive, fresh, and very pleasant wine ideal for accompanying appetizers, salads, and oily fish.
At sight, Hito Rosado shows a beautiful very pale pink color.
Clean on the nose, where clear aromas of red fruits, floral notes, and subtle citrus hints dominate.
On the palate, it is fresh and balanced. Good passage and medium aftertaste.
Hito Rosado is a pale pink wine, clean and bright. On the nose, it is fresh and expressive, with aromas of red fruits and subtle notes of white flowers that add complexity. On the palate, it is complex and expressive, with balanced acidity, silky texture, and good volume. In short, an elegant and fresh rosé with a marked personality.
Cepa 21 is the winery of José Moro, the third generation of a renowned lineage of winemakers from Ribera del Duero. It is located in a valley in Castrillo de Duero (Valladolid) and features modern, minimalist-style facilities on a small hill that offers wonderful views. Focused on wine tourism, the winery also has its own restaurant. Cepa 21 produces wines with a very good image and a contemporary appeal: fruity and fresh; a true demonstration of the potential of the tinto fino (tempranillo) grape. To achieve this, it relies on 50 hectares of its own vineyards, most of which are distributed around the winery at an altitude between 780 and 850 meters.
Aware that high-quality raw materials are an essential condition for achieving great wines, the winery conducts an exhaustive selection of plots and soil monitoring prior to planting, in addition to meticulous viticulture practices (green pruning, cluster thinning...). Harvesting is done by parcels, and the grape clusters go through a selection table.
The winery also stands out for its commitment to technology: all the vineyards are monitored with field sensors, Internet of Things, satellites… The most innovative technology is used to record all parameters (humidity, wind, or plant stress).
