Hiriart is one of the most important wineries in the D.O. Cigales, a land where, in addition to rosé wines, interesting reds are produced with the Tempranillo grape. Proof of this is Hiriart Crianza 2020, which comes from a selection of the winery's oldest vineyards. A smooth, full-bodied red wine with ripe tannins, which displays aromas of black fruit and from its ageing in excellent quality barrels.

General Information

Hiriart Crianza 2020 is made with red grapes from Spain (tempranillo) selected from the winery's oldest vineyards. It’s aged for 12 to 14 months in oak barrels of different origins: French, American and Central European, followed by refinement in the bottle for 6 to 12 months.

The Hiriart winery was linked for several generations to the Hiriart family of French origin, from the time it arrived in Cigales and began to produce in underground eighteenth-century cellars where clarets were already being made. In 2007 the current winery was built, constructed on top of the tunnels and galleries of the old winery, which has remained intact. In 2023, the international group Vinos de La Luz acquired the firm, giving it an important boost to continue growing.

Today, Hiriart is known for its high-quality wines: rosés and reds. It has 42 hectares of vines between 25 and 85 years old, all located at an altitude of between 700 and 800 meters, on different types of soils.

Hiriart Crianza 2020 (D.O. Cigales) is ideal to pair with Wellington sirloin steak or boiled fish with potatoes.
