General Information

Hacienda Monasterio Reserva 2019 originates from the carefully tended vineyard of the homonymous winery in Valladolid, located between the towns of Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero, in one of the best areas of the D.O. Ribera del Duero.

It was back in 1991 when the Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck arrived in the Ribera region in search of unique and high-quality vineyards to unleash his oenological creativity. This marked the birth of Bodegas Hacienda Monasterio, a winery that, to this day, remains under his guidance as its alma mater, alongside Spanish winemaker Carlos de la Fuente. Together, they have elevated the winery to the top, turning its wines, vintage after vintage, into essential references of this production area. Such is the case with this Hacienda Monasterio Reserva 2019, a coupage of tinto fino and cabernet sauvignon, with 19 months of aging in French Allier oak barrels, which captivates with its balance and maturity. A solid choice, perfect for pairing with all kinds of meats, Iberian cured sausages, and aged cheeses.

Creators' opinion

The winery

Hacienda Monasterio is one of the most prominent wineries in Ribera del Duero since its foundation in the early nineties. It is also known for being the winery that brought Peter Sisseck, the creator of Pingus, to Spain. The Dane continues to work at the winery and craft its wines, in this case alongside local winemaker Carlos de la Fuente.

The estate where the winery is located, halfway between Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero, belonged at the end of the century to the Lecanda family, who at that time owned Vega Sicilia. The key to Hacienda Monasterio's success is the quality of its vineyard, which has now reached sufficient maturity to provide the winery with exceptional raw material to produce wines of the highest quality.
