Viña Solorca is a firm we discovered three years ago and fell in love with. It’s based in Roa, province of Burgos, and belongs to one of the longest-standing grape-growing families in Ribera del Duero: the Balbáses.Aware of the potential of the family-owned vines, Víctor Balbás decided to take the leap to winemaking in 1998 and today the winery owns 90 hectares of vineyards that produce wines with long ageing periods like these Reservas.
Gran Solorca Reserva 2018 won gold medals at Mundus Vini and the Arribe awards and a 93-point score from Britain’s prestigious Decanter magazine. We’re also offering you the latest vintage: Gran Solorca Reserva 2019, a year classified as Excellent in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, which also has a promising future ahead of it. The quality of these reds is based on their excellent ingredients: gobelet-trained Tempranillo grapes grown on the firm’s own vineyards that are more than 70 years old. Grab them because their price is amazing.
