Rosés are in fashion. They’re probably the wines whose popularity has grown the most in recent years. As they’re not aged in wood, the flavours of the grapes are more clearly distinguishable. And this is the key to a good rosé: excellent-quality grapes. To produce grapes this good a great vineyard is required, followed by great work at the winery. And that’s something that the three firms whose wines we’ve selected excel at: Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, Protos and CVNE. Three Spanish wine heavyweights who are offering us their rosés in different styles, made in different Denominaciones and with a long tradition and lots of prestige in this category: Cigales and Rioja. Welcome spring in grand style with these fabulous rosés! And have you seen their price?

General Information

When it comes to rosés, the D.O. Cigales has a lot to say; in fact, over the past few years it's won the highest awards in all the international competitions. This type of wine is linked to the history of this region, where it’s traditionally been called clarete. Carlos Moro (Bodegas Familiares Matarromera) has opted to reinterpret the classic clarete. Here’s introducing Valdelosfrailes Clarete 2024, a rosé that boasts important prizes such as gold medals at the Mondial du Rosé and Bacchus awards and was included in Wine Spectator’s famous Top 100.  We’re offering you the latest vintage, 2024. It was grown on Tempranillo vines owned by the winery in Cubillas de Santa Marta and Quintanilla de Trigueros (Valladolid).

Bodegas Protos has the merit of combining popularity and prestige. With almost a century of experience in Ribera del Duero, it also produces wine in the thriving Cigales region, where its rosés have won top prizes in all international competitions. As expected, Aire de Protos Rosé 2024 is a pale rosé that has lots of appeal. Its blend is dominated by Tempranillo and Garnacha reds, enhanced with 20% of white Albillo, Verdejo and Viura. It comes from high-altitude vineyards whose soils have a high percentage of sand and pebbles, resulting in elegant and lighter wine. In addition, ageing on lees gives it complexity and greater smoothness.

At Vinoselección we make wines that are ours from start to finish. They’re our Unique Labels, such as one after which this campaign is named: LABUENAUVA. CVNE, one of the most important wineries in the country, with more than 140 years of experience, teamed up with us and the result is a fantastic exclusive rosé: LABUENAUVA Rosado 2023. Created wholly from Tempranillo grapes, the star variety in Rioja, it’s  fresh, fruity and very pleasant to drink.
