Flor de Muga Rosé 2023 belongs to the new range from the great house of Haro. This rosé is made with garnacha from old vines located in the Alto Najerilla areas and the higher parts of the Valle del Oja, where this variety offers a magnificent expression. It undergoes 4 months of aging on lees and presents itself as very elegant and balanced, with a vibrant acidity that provides length and liveliness.

Flor de Muga Rosé 2023 originates from a selection of twelve parcels of very old garnachas, between 70 and 90 years old, located in Alto Najerilla and the upper parts of the Valle del Oja. These are bush vines with low yields. The semi-continental climate, clay-limestone and clay-ferrous soils, and the hillside location make these lands an ideal place to achieve rosés with a fresh profile and great complexity, like this one.
The harvest of the garnacha grapes was manual and transported to the winery in small refrigerated boxes to preserve all the aromatic potential. After a short maceration, 50% of the free-run juice (the first juice that comes out of the press by simple gravity) was selected, and then it fermented at a low temperature in small oak vats, parcel by parcel. After fermentation, the wine matured with the fine lees for a minimum of 4 months, gaining aromatic complexity and volume. Finally, a tasting was conducted parcel by parcel to design the final blend.
Muga is one of the most reliable and recognizable names in Rioja, founded in 1932 by the family that gives it its name: the Muga, now led by seven cousins of the third generation. Its history began in a modest winery located on a central street in Haro, but in 1970 it inaugurated new facilities in the famous Barrio de la Estación of the same town.
Bodegas Muga is characterized by its fidelity to traditional winemaking: racking by gravity, clarifying with egg whites, and all reds are made, fermented, and aged in oak (there is no stainless steel in the winery). It is also one of the few Spanish wineries with its own cooperage. However, in the vineyard, it bets on modern technology, monitoring the plants.
This winery also stands out for its mastery in aging, especially long aging, as its reds exceed the aging times stipulated by the Regulatory Council of the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Its portfolio distinguishes two lines: a more classic one with the Muga and Prado Enea range; and a more modern one, with Torre Muga and the 'top' Aro. To these is added the new Flor de Muga label, in white

Its portfolio is divided into two lines: a more classic line with the Muga and Prado Enea range, and a more modern one with Torre Muga and the ‘top’ Aro. These are joined by the new Flor de Muga label, available in white and rosé versions. All of these wines have elegance in their DNA, with outstanding acceptance.
It boasts exceptional vineyards of tempranillo, garnacha, graciano, and mazuelo, located in the valleys of the Oja and Tirón rivers. In these lands, soil and climate come together to offer exceptional conditions for the vine, something the Muga family takes full advantage of to craft their renowned wines.
