The garnacha and syrah are the most prestigious grapes of the Rhône wine region. There, the legendary winery Père Anselme produces the wine La Fiole Rouge 2021 under the Côtes du Rhône geographical indication. One of the most sought-after wines of the region, for both its content and its presentation.

From the historic house of Père Anselme, we present to you the red wine La Fiole Rouge 2021, originating from the renowned Côtes du Rhône appellation. A red wine that showcases the best of Grenache and Syrah, perfectly encapsulating the exceptional 2021 vintage, which translates into outstanding elegance, great potential, and long aging capacity. A synergy between the classic and the modern.

For its production, the clusters of Grenache and Syrah from Connaux, Saint Paul des Fonts, Gaujac, Laudun, and l’Ardoise were hand-harvested into boxes and quickly transported to the winery, where alcoholic fermentation took place in temperature-controlled tanks. Subsequently, the resulting wine underwent aging in a combination of French oak barrels and concrete tanks before its final blending.

As a curiosity, in 1952, several Rhône producers gathered to determine the most remarkable bottle from the region. La Fiole de Père Anselme triumphed in that local contest with its curved bottle, inspired by the Mistral wind that sweeps through the vineyards of southern Rhône. Since then, that bottle has adorned all the wines of La Fiole and can now be found in over a hundred countries.

Tasting notes

In the visual phase, it presents a beautiful ripe cherry red color with a ruby rim and good depth.

On the nose, it reveals a very elegant and complex aromatic range. Initially, notes of black fruits in jam (blackberries and blueberries) appear, along with milky and cocoa touches. Later, spicy notes (bay leaf and pepper) can be appreciated, and finally, pleasant balsamic aromas (licorice) emerge over a subtle milky background.

On the palate, it confirms the elegance of the nose, being flavorful, enveloping, and endowed with noble and well-integrated tannins. Good final persistence, with hints of liqueur-soaked fruits.

The winery

Winery

Founded in 1931 in Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Rhône, France), Maison Brotte is a winery run by successive generations of the same family. Laurent Brotte, grandson of the founder, is the current head of the house, alongside his wife and children. This family was a pioneer in bottling wine in the southern Rhône Valley and also one of the first to export to the international market. Today, their wines are present in 95 countries around the world. Père Anselme is the winery's second label and produces the famous La Fiole du Pape.

La Fiole du Pape is a cuvée created by Charles Brotte in 1952, distinguished by the unique silhouette of its bottle, and has become the most famous wine of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
