General Information

González Byass showcases all its winemaking expertise in Finca Moncloa 2021, the flagship of an interesting project committed to the recovery of red wines from the Tierra de Cádiz. Intense on the nose and with a balanced, rounded and smooth palate, yet with good structure, this red wine from Cádiz is the result of a carefully measured blend of syrah, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and tintilla de Rota, a nearly extinct native variety.

For its production, each grape variety was manually selected in the vineyard and vinified separately, undergoing 12 months ageing in new and one-use French and American oak barrels before the final blending. For Finca Moncloa, microvinification is the best method to obtain the full potential of each grape variety and reflect its terroir (the poor, chalky soils of Arcos de la Frontera) as faithfully as possible.

Finca Moncloa 2021 is a Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz that preserves the local tradition of rich red wines, whose structure and balance make it the perfect option to accompany a wide variety of gastronomic proposals: from cold cuts and Iberian charcuterie to spiced stews with rich sauces, as well as game and red meats such as grilled lamb.

Tasting notes

Finca Moncloa displays an intense cherry-red colour.

Nose dominated by aromas of ripe red and black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, blackberry) and floral, spicy (black pepper, clove, vanilla) and balsamic notes (eucalyptus, mint and liquorice), harmoniously combined with fine toasted hints of wood.

Balanced on the palate, with good acidity and a long, persistent finish.

The winery

The González Byass winery group, a benchmark for Spanish wines across five continents, conceived Bodegas Finca Moncloa to revive the tradition of producing still wines in the province of Cádiz. By cultivating varieties perfectly adapted to the warm climate of Arcos de la Frontera, including the recovery of the native Tintilla de Rota, they have succeeded in producing wines of exceptional quality that continue to surprise the international market.
