General Information

González Byass showcases its winemaking know-how in Finca Moncloa 2019, the flagship wine of a firm that’s determined to bring back the red wines from Tierra de Cádiz and the Tintilla de Rota, a native grape variety that’s almost died out.

This variety verging on extinction contributes a unique touch to this blend, which also consists of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Tempranillo. Each variety was selected by hand in the vineyard, vinified separately, and aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels before the final blending. Finca Moncloa believe that micro-vinification is the best method to extract the full potential from each type of grape and to reflect the terroir as faithfully as possible.

Finca Moncloa 2019, classified as a Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz, enshrines  Cadiz’s  tradition of rich red wines. Its structure and balance make it the perfect choice to accompany a wide variety of dishes, from Ibérico cold cuts and deli meats to spicy stews and hearty sauces, as well as game and red meats such as grilled lamb.

Tasting notes

Intense cherry-red colour.

Nose dominated by aromas of ripe red and black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, blackberry) and floral, spicy (black pepper, clove, vanilla) and balsamic notes (eucalyptus, mint and black liquorice), harmoniously combined with subtle toasty hints from ageing.

Balanced palate, with good acidity and a long, lingering finish.

The winery

The González Byass winery group, a benchmark for Spanish wines across five continents, conceived Bodegas Finca Moncloa to revive the tradition of producing still wines in the province of Cádiz. By cultivating varieties perfectly adapted to the warm climate of Arcos de la Frontera, including the recovery of the native Tintilla de Rota, they have succeeded in producing wines of exceptional quality that continue to surprise the international market.
