In the heart of La Seca, the cradle of the D.O. Rueda, lies Finca La Colina, Vinos Sanz's most unique vineyard. Its stony soils, which are poor in organic matter and cultivated in extreme dry conditions, produced Finca La Colina Verdejo Cien x Cien 2024, a white wine that embodies the purest essence of Verdejo.
Finca La Colina Verdejo Cien x Cien 2024 comes from one of the oldest vineyards in the D.O. which is unique in bringing out the flavours of the variety. Precision harvesting was followed by cold pre-fermentation maceration at less than 6ºC. After delicate pressing, only the highest quality free-run juice was selected and fermented slowly at temperatures below 14ºC to preserve its varietal character. Ageing on lees for 4 to 5 months, with gentle bâtonnage, has lent it volume, texture and an enveloping elegance on the palate.
Vinos Sanz, the oldest winery in the region, was a pioneer in putting its faith in Verdejo when few others did. Its commitment to the vineyard and to quality has been key to consolidating its prestige. Today, its Finca La Colina range not only reflects this legacy, but also stands out on the international scene, where it’s received numerous awards and recognitions.

The winery
In addition to being the oldest winery in Rueda, Vinos Sanz is an essential name to understand the enormous development that this Castilian-Leonese denomination has experienced in recent decades. Founded in 1870 in La Seca (Valladolid), it was the first winery to unconditionally bet on verdejo, today considered one of the best white grape varieties in the world. Currently, the winery is managed by the sixth generation of the family and is in the midst of a commercial expansion process to conquer new markets.
Vinos Sanz bases its philosophy on preserving the maximum expression of the vineyard and meticulously caring for the winemaking process. In addition to verdejo, the undisputed queen of Rueda, the winery also cultivates sauvignon blanc – the second most important variety in the area – across its more than 100 hectares of vineyards, mostly located in Finca La Colina. This plot, with unbeatable conditions for grape growing, produces the raw material for two of the best white wines made in this country: Finca La Colina 100 x 100 Verdejo and Finca La Colina Sauvignon Blanc.
