Finca La Colina Verdejo Cien x Cien 2023 is made from the most unique vineyard of Vinos Sanz: Finca La Colina, located in the heart of the denomination, in La Seca, where the verdejo grape gives its best on poor organic matter soils of pebbles and in strict dry farming conditions. A property that houses one of the oldest verdejo vineyards of the D.O. Rueda.
After the harvest, they perform a cold pre-fermentation maceration at less than 6º C and press. Then they select the highest quality free-run must. Once clean, it is fermented at a low temperature below 14º C to preserve all the varietal character. Then this white wine is aged on its lees for 4-5 months using the 'batonage' technique, which provides a creamy sensation and volume in the mouth.
The winery Vinos Sanz prides itself on being the oldest in the region and also one of the first to bet on the verdejo grape. Aware that the quality of the raw material is the foundation of any good wine, it has developed excellent work in the field, key to its success. Vinos Sanz deserves a place of honor today in terms of quality and consistency. Its Finca La Colina range boasts a good array of international awards.
Finca La Colina Verdejo Cien x Cien 2022 (D.O. Rueda) will be a good companion for carpaccios and warm seafood and smoked salads, as well as baked or grilled fish.
In addition to being the oldest winery in Rueda, Vinos Sanz is an essential name to understand the enormous development that this Castilian-Leonese denomination has experienced in recent decades. Founded in 1870 in La Seca (Valladolid), it was the first winery to unconditionally bet on verdejo, today considered one of the best white grape varieties in the world. Currently, the winery is managed by the sixth generation of the family and is in the midst of a commercial expansion process to conquer new markets.
Vinos Sanz bases its philosophy on preserving the maximum expression of the vineyard and meticulously caring for the winemaking process. In addition to verdejo, the undisputed queen of Rueda, the winery also cultivates sauvignon blanc – the second most important variety in the area – across its more than 100 hectares of vineyards, mostly located in Finca La Colina. This plot, with unbeatable conditions for grape growing, produces the raw material for two of the best white wines made in this country: Finca La Colina 100 x 100 Verdejo and Finca La Colina Sauvignon Blanc.
