Enxebre 2023 is a delicious Albariño designed by the masterful hand of winemaker José Hidalgo using the traditional method of carbonic maceration. The grapes come from old vines in the historic Salnés Valley, the largest and coolest subzone of the D.O. Rías Baixas that’s also closest to the Atlantic.

Enxebre 2023 is a sensational young Albariño produced using the carbonic maceration method (intact bunches), matured on fine lees in stainless steel vats. Its Albariño grapes come from vines that are more than 40 years old and grow in the Salnés Valley, regarded by many as the best part of the D.O. Rías Baixas. They were harvested by hand in 20-kg crates and the bunches were sorted twice, at the vineyard and in the winery. The free-run juice obtained from destemming and lightly pressing the grapes was fermented for 10 days at a temperature of 14-16º C.
It was created by one of the wineries that has done the most to secure the D.O. Rías Baixas the prestige it currently enjoys: only three years after it started out in 1991, Condes de Albarei produced the first white wine from Spain to win a gold medal at the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux. Adega Condes de Albarei also owns more vineyards than the majority of wineries in the D.O. Rías Baixas: no less than 300 hectares, unusual for a region where smallholdings are predominant. What’s more, their wines offer the quality guarantee provided by the expert hand of winemaker José Hidalgo.
Enxebre Albariño 2023 (D.O. Rías Baixas) is perfect with soupy rice with lobster, boiled or grilled seafood or Galician-style octopus.
Elegant straw-yellow wine with green hues. Aromas of herbs (fennel), white and stone fruit, and floral notes. Fresh and balanced on the palate with hints of citrus fruits and a long, enveloping finish that lingers on.
Adega Condes de Albarei is one of the largest wineries with the most estate-owned vineyards in the D.O. Rías Baixas. Founded in 1988 in Cambados, the capital of the Salnés Valley, it is the result of the union of a group of winegrowers from this region, considered the birthplace of the D.O. Rías Baixas and its native and predominant variety, albariño.
The gold medal won by Condes de Albarei in 1991 at the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux (the first ever achieved by a Spanish white wine) marked the winery's international breakthrough, bringing its albariños to different countries such as Germany, England, the United States, and Japan.
Currently, Condes de Albarei produces high-quality albariños from its 300 hectares of vineyards and boasts modern facilities equipped with the latest technology. The same group also owns the Pazo Baión winery, also within the D.O. Rías Baixas.
