General Information

Rosé wines are trending and Enrique Mendoza Rosado Monastrell 2023 is an excellent choice to enjoy this booming wine category.

The renowned Alicante-based winery located in Alfaz del Pi, Bodegas Enrique Mendoza, used a selection of Monastrell grapes from the El Cabezo de la Virgen area in Villena for its production. The vineyard's elevation of 500 meters above sea level contributed great freshness and fruity aromatics to this single-varietal wine, qualities that were enhanced by precise vinification with light pressing of the grapes to extract only the free-run juice, fermentation with native yeasts, and a brief aging on its lees until bottling, included.

The final result is Enrique Mendoza Rosado Monastrell 2023, a Mediterranean rosé belonging to the D.O. Alicante that stands out for its aromas of strawberry, peach, and watermelon, with a floral touch that satisfies all palates.

Tasting notes

To the sight, Enrique Mendoza Rosado Monastrell shows a bright ruby pink color, clean and crystalline.

Fresh nose where the aromas of fruits such as strawberry, peach, and watermelon stand out, followed by hints of freshly cut grass and lavender flower.

On the palate, it presents a certain structure, it is very fresh and with great persistence. Reminders of fruit salad. A wine that invites another sip.

The winery

Bodegas Enrique Mendoza
Bodegas Enrique Mendoza is a family-owned winery founded in 1989 and based in the town of Alfaz del Pi, in Alicante. The seed of the winery was "planted" in the late 1970s by Enrique Mendoza, a viticulturist passionate about enology, who decided to continue the tradition of the Marina Baixa region of producing wine for family consumption.

Today, the project has become well-established, and Bodegas Enrique Mendoza boasts 84.5 hectares of vineyards. The winery prides itself on being a pioneer in the region for introducing renowned international varieties such as the white chardonnay and the red cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot, petit verdot, and syrah, while also championing local varieties like monastrell, the queen grape of the D.O. Vinos Alicante, and moscatel.

The winery's philosophy is rooted in respect for the vineyard and the environment, practicing a herbicide- and insecticide-free viticulture with precise care, resulting in wines full of nuances.
