Enrique Mendoza Las Quebradas Monastrell 2019 is a high-quality red wine that is part of the collection of great Mediterranean-style single varietals, produced by the homonymous winery based in the Alicante town of Alfaz del Pi.
Las Quebradas is the name of the area located in Villena, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, the origin of this monastrell we propose. The advanced age of the vines that produced the fruit and the particular composition of the soils that host them, poor in organic matter and rich in bedrock and caliche stone, gave the wine a unique minerality and a good structure of fatty and sweet tannins. 15 months of aging in French oak barrels finished refining this red wine, which is considered one of the top creations of Bodegas Enrique Mendoza. Limited production.
Enrique Mendoza Las Quebradas Monastrell shows a medium-high layer and cherry red color, with garnet highlights.
Aromas on the nose of Mediterranean herbs (rosemary, lavender, esparto, small pine, and balsamic) that provide freshness, mineral notes that give depth, and smoky and tobacco notes, characteristic of barrel aging.
Voluminous and powerful on the palate, yet elegant. Sweet and fatty tannins.
