General Information

Its barely one thousand bottles produced make Emilio Moro Clon de la Familia 2018 one of the rarest and most exclusive wines from Ribera del Duero. This label is only released in years when the harvest has been exceptionally remarkable, like this one.

Emilio Moro Clon de la Familia 2018 is a tribute to the pure clone of tinto fino (tempranillo) from Bodegas Emilio Moro, through a careful selection of the fruits born from their best terroirs: the parcels of Cornalvo, Camino Viejo, and La Mira, representative of the three types of soils found in the region (clayey, calcareous, and rocky). Three profiles condensed into a wine, aged for 18 months in exclusive barrels that preserved all the aromas of the fruit and the land.

The wines of Emilio Moro hold, by their own merit, a privileged place in Ribera del Duero. The commitment to tradition, while embracing the latest technological innovations, guides the path of this winery, filled with successes and recognitions, both within and beyond our borders. And all of this, without forgetting their social commitment, as demonstrated by this Emilio Moro Clon de la Familia 2018, a wine with a charitable character, whose entire sales proceeds are donated to the Fundación Emilio Moro.

Tasting notes

With a dark cherry red color and beautiful violet reflections.

Nose of great aromatic complexity, dominated by fruity, smoky, lactic, mineral notes and noble woods.

On the palate, it is round, pleasant, and subtle, with the elegance provided by the limestone soils, the structure and character of the clay, and the maturity of the stony soils. Intense and well-defined.

Bodegas Emilio Moro is among the wineries that have most contributed to showcasing the excellence of Ribera del Duero wines beyond our borders. It is the story of a family of winemakers with a tradition spanning several generations, who have managed to position their wines among the most highly regarded worldwide; in fact, it was recently nominated for the Best European Winery award by the influential American magazine ‘Wine Enthusiast,’ which recognized it as the best in Spain. Located in Pesquera de Duero, in a privileged enclave of the Ribera del Duero, it is currently led by Javier Moro (president), heir to the love for wine of his grandfather and father, both named Emilio.

This Valladolid-based winery has always been committed to producing wines deeply connected to their terroir, convinced that it is the soil that gives them personality. It owns nearly 400 hectares of its own vineyards, planted and grafted with a clone of tempranillo recovered from its oldest vines, which undoubtedly provides fruits of extraordinary quality, with great color, character, and nuances. Among the most emblematic plots of the winery are Resalso (planted in 1933, the year Emilio Moro, father of the current owners, was born); Valderramiro, with the oldest vines of the winery and the cradle of the great wine Malleolus de Valderramiro; Sanchomartín and Camino Viejo, from which the red wine Malleolus is born.

In 2016, Bodegas Emilio Moro embarked on a new project, for the first time, outside Ribera del Duero, under the Bierzo designation of origin, where they have three labels. Since 2023, they have owned a winery in the area. Currently, they have over 60 hectares dedicated to the godello grape.
