Drouhin Cloudline Pinot Noir 2020 is a single-varietal red wine made from pinot noir, sourced from a Dijon clone that Maison Joseph Drouhin planted in their vineyard in Willamette Valley (Oregon, USA). The capricious French variety, not always easy to cultivate, found in this Pacific Northwest terroir the right conditions in terms of climate, latitude, and soils—very similar to those of the Burgundy vineyard—to thrive, resulting in an expressive, fresh, and refined red wine.
In 1986, Véronique Drouhin became one of the pioneering Burgundians to bring her enological expertise to the Willamette Valley, where, together with her brother Philippe, she founded the winery Domaine Drouhin Oregon, the American branch of Maison Joseph Drouhin. On their 50 hectares of own vineyard, certified as sustainable farming under the LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) certification, Domaine Drouhin produces whites and reds of the highest quality, and is positioned as one of the leading producers of pinot noir in the United States thanks to wines like this Drouhin Cloudline Pinot Noir 2020.
On the nose, it unfolds aromas of red fruits (arándano rojo, Red Delicious apple) followed by notes of orange zest and citrus, along with herbal hints.
On the palate, it is juicy, vibrant, and balanced, with excellent acidity. It has a light-medium body, with firm tannins and a refreshing finish.
