Condado de Haza Club Reserva 2021 originates from a unique 200-hectare estate located on the banks of the Duero River, in Roa (Burgos), where the Fernández Rivera family has created their own Castilian ‘château.’ Here, the vineyard and the winery coexist in perfect symbiosis, allowing for absolute control over the entire process, from vine to glass. This 2021 vintage, like the two previous ones, has been blessed with the Excellent rating by the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, ensuring a wine of great balance, structure, and aging potential.
Made exclusively with tempranillo from estate-owned vineyards, Condado de Haza Club Reserva 2021 has been aged for more than 12 months in American oak barrels, where it has gained complexity without losing its fruity character. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruit, licorice, sweet spices, and a very elegant toasted background. On the palate, it is broad, flavorful, and enveloping, with polished tannins and a long finish that invites another sip.
This is a wine that combines power and finesse, perfectly pairing with feathered game dishes, such as quail stuffed with foie or pigeon with seasonal mushrooms. It will also be ideal with game meats like venison loin with cranberry sauce.
Beautiful deep cherry red color with a very ripe appearance and purple hues, almost opaque.
On the aromatic phase, it unfolds delightful aromas of very ripe fruits -blackberry and black plum-, mineral notes, and an elegant balsamic hint -eucalyptus-. Later, toasted notes emerge along with a delicate background of chocolate and coffee, resulting in a complex, fragrant, and highly concentrated nose.
On the palate, it stands out for its magnificent structure, great fruity character, and a broad, flavorful, and voluminous mouthfeel; very ripe, fruity, and high-quality tannins coat the mouth with roundness, breadth, and silkiness. Extremely long-lasting finish marked by fruity notes and spicy undertones.
Condado de Haza is the second winery of the Familia Fernández Rivera in Ribera del Duero. Following the success of the parent winery (Tinto Pesquera), this family decided to expand its legacy. They found the ideal location on a hillside with poor soils and perfect orientation along the banks of the Duero River, in the municipality of Roa (Burgos), where the first vines were planted in 1987. On the same estate stands the winery, inspired by French ‘châteaux,’ with a structure designed by carving into a hill. Additionally, it features an underground bottle cellar where the wines rest in perfect conditions.
In 2008, the international prestige of the winery took a significant leap when Condado de Haza Crianza was included by Wine Spectator magazine among the 100 best wines in the world. Today, the winery has 200 hectares of vineyards, all of the tempranillo variety, the signature grape of the Familia Fernández Rivera. Its wines are made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. It produces the brands Condado de Haza Crianza, Condado de Haza Reserva Especial, and Alenza. These are red wines with long aging in oak, earning acclaim from both national and international critics.
