Discover CM Prestigio 2020, a special edition of D.O.Ca. Rioja produced by Bodega CM de Matarromera from 100% Tempranillo grapes and matured for 16 months in French and American oak barrels. This bottling is part of the Selección Thyssen from Vinoselección and its label features Abundancia de verano, by Paul Lacroix, in a nod that unites wine and art with great character.
Comes from vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida, within a project comprising 30 hectares of own vineyards and a further 60 hectares controlled in these towns and Ábalos. The winery works with a clear commitment to quality, tending to the raw materials and keeping a vision closely tied to innovation, sustainability and respect for the Rioja region.
Founded in 2014 by Carlos Moro, Bodega CM de Matarromera was established to integrate into the emblematic denomination of Rioja and to broaden the reach of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera. Its 300-metre underground calado and its fleet of oak casks reflect that well-understood ambition: to produce high-end wines with their own identity.
Pairing
CM Prestigio 2020 pairs very well with roasted or stewed red meats, suckling lamb, grilled ribeye and game dishes, where its structure and balanced character find the perfect match. It also makes an excellent choice with cured cheeses, Iberian charcuterie and a good foie, in addition to bringing plenty of personality alongside a bluefin tuna or baked salmon.

CM Prestigio 2020 is produced with a precise vinification, designed to extract the Tempranillo's full personality and shape a serious, deep and balanced red. Once in the winery, the grapes undergo a double selection process, first by bunch and then by berry, after an initial cooling in refrigerated rooms that helps preserve the quality of the raw material. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in small vats, while the malolactic fermentation is carried out in wooden tuns, a choice that adds greater complexity and roundness to the wine.
Aging
CM Prestigio 2020 undergoes ageing for 16 months in oak barrels, with a combination of French oak (80%) and American oak (20%), where the wine gains complexity, structure and that elegant and deep profile so characteristic of the estate. No information is provided about its time spent in bottle prior to market release.
Description
CM Prestigio 2020 comes from bush-trained Tempranillo vines selected in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, with plots also in Labastida and Ábalos, in Rioja Alta. Manual harvest in small crates allows careful handling of the grapes from the vineyard to the winery, while its 16 months of aging in French and American oak barrels provide depth and reinforce that powerful, mineral and balanced character that defines the wine.

CM Prestigio 2020 comes from goblet-trained vines hand-harvested at their optimal ripeness, with a very careful selection both in the vineyard and in the winery to preserve all the personality of the Tempranillo grape. The philosophy of Bodega CM de Matarromera is to pursue viticulture that respects sustainability and the environment, aimed at obtaining high-quality grapes and maintaining the natural balance of the vineyard.

Nose
CM Prestigio 2020 unfolds an intense and complex nose, with the prominence of ripe red fruits and acidic black fruits, where blackberry and plum stand out. Crisp mineral notes of graphite appear, along with spicy nuances that add depth and character. All of this is expressed with the personality of a 100% Tempranillo of great concentration and elegance.
Mouth
CM Prestigio 2020 unfolds on the palate with great structure, volume and balance, with the character of a Rioja Alta red that is well tuned. It is fresh, complex and elegant, with a silky mouthfeel in which the ripe fruit expresses itself clearly and interlocks with notes of blackberry and damson. The ageing adds depth and roundness, while the acidity supports the overall profile and lends it liveliness. The finish is long and persistent, with a very harmonious sensation and notable cellaring potential.
