Carlos Moro personally selects the best plots in the Condado de Tea (Rías Baixas) to produce CM Albariño Sobre Lías 2022, an excellent single-varietal that ages on lees for 4 months. The subtlety of the fruits and a careful production process culminate in a signature wine distinguished by its complexity on the nose and excellent acidity on the palate. Pure Atlantic expression.

General Information

CM Albariño Sobre Lías 2022 is a complex white wine made from clusters of the native Albariño variety from one of the most qualified areas of Rías Baixas, on the banks of the Tea River, where fertile siliceous lands arise from the decomposition of granite. These loamy-sandy soils, rich in clay and mica, host a trellised vineyard following the course of the river, in the Finca Pesqueiras.

The wines of the CM range bear the name of the winemaker and entrepreneur Carlos Moro, creator of oenological jewels in the different wineries under the umbrella of the Bodegas Familiares Matarromera group. Bodega CM de Matarromera was founded in 2014 with the aim of preserving traditions by applying ancestral techniques in its vineyards, such as animal traction, in a strong commitment to sustainability and the environment. This philosophy is reflected in the high quality of the wines produced by the firm, such as this CM Albariño Sobre Lías 2022.

With a limited production of 8672 bottles, this white from the D.O. Rías Baixas is the result of a manual harvest and a quick transfer to the winery with the aim of preserving the varietal aromas and the qualities absorbed from the terroir. A low-temperature fermentation followed by a careful elaboration culminated in the aging of the wine on its lees for 4 months. The result is an excellent white that stands out for its Atlantic character, with well-integrated acidity and a pleasant salinity that makes it a very versatile white for pairing. It pairs well with good octopus, soft and semi-cured cheeses, seafood and shellfish such as razor clams and scallops. It is also suitable with fish such as sea bass, sea bream, or turbot.

The winery

Bodega CM de Matarromera
Founded in 2014 in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Bodega CM de Matarromera (D.O.Ca. Rioja) is another remarkable project by the renowned Castilian-Leonese winemaker Carlos Moro, owner of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera. This venture was born from Carlos Moro's desire to expand Bodegas Familiares Matarromera and become part of a denomination of origin as prestigious and iconic as Rioja (prior to the creation of Bodega CM de Matarromera, Bodegas Familiares Matarromera included only wineries within the denominations of origin influenced by the Duero River).

A business project aimed at producing high-end wines and sharing the philosophy upon which Bodegas Familiares Matarromera is founded: innovation, respect for sustainability and the environment, and the pursuit of the highest quality. Bodega CM de Matarromera owns 30 hectares of its own vineyards distributed across various plots located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida, as well as 60 controlled hectares situated in these towns and Ábalos.

The winery's facilities feature an impressive 300-meter-long underground cellar that houses 2,000 American and French oak barrels. Currently, Bodega CM de Matarromera produces the brands CM and Oinoz (D.O.Ca. Rioja). Additionally, this initiative also includes other select estate wines from symbolic vineyards in other denominations of origin, such as Toro, Rueda, Ribera del Duero, and Cigales.
