General Information

In the heart of Priorat, the vineyards of Llicorella Vins stretch across reddish and black slate soils with small particles of mica and quartzite, known as "llicorella." This unique terroir, bathed by a Mediterranean climate with continental influences, provides the ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality grapes.

There, among pine forests and olive trees, low-yield vines are cultivated to produce the red wine Clar del Bosc 2022. After the manual harvest of the best clusters, the varieties ferment separately in small open stainless steel tanks, with part of the process taking place in French oak barrels. The wines underwent 12 months of aging in barrels of different capacities, followed by the final coupage and bottling.

Llicorella Vins is the project of the Viñas Familia Gil group in Priorat. The winery has benefited from the vision of Silvia Puig, a renowned oenologist in Gratallops, who contributed her expertise and deep knowledge of Priorat's terroir to the creation of Clar del Bosc.

The D.O.Q. Priorat is synonymous with high-quality wines, and Clar del Bosc 2022 is a worthy representative. Its intensity and complexity make it the ideal wine to pair with red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

Creators' opinion

The winery

Llicorella Vins is a project initiated by the renowned Valencian group Viñas Familia Gil in the heart of the Priorat. Located in the municipality of El Molar, in a beautiful farmhouse, Mas Perxet, the winery is surrounded by a rugged landscape of slate soils that give rise to intriguing red wines thanks to the peculiarities of its terroir.

In this terroir, the vines grow among fossil slates known as ‘llicorellas’, and the steep slopes where they are located are swept by winds that vary between cold northern currents and mild breezes from the marine east.

At Llicorella Vins winery, the main varieties cultivated are garnacha and cariñena, and their flagship wine is the red Minairó.

The origins of Viñas Familia Gil date back to 1906 when Juan Gil Giménez, great-grandfather of the current family managing the project, established a small winery in the municipality of Jumilla. Today, the group comprises 10 wineries located in 10 denominations of origin across the country. All of them adhere to a family philosophy: sustainable cultivation, promoting the native varieties of each region, and respecting the environment.
