Cepa 21 is the winery of José Moro, the third generation of a renowned lineage of winemakers from the Ribera del Duero. It is located in a valley in Castrillo de Duero (Valladolid) and features modern, minimalist-style facilities situated on a small hill, offering wonderful views. Focused on wine tourism, the winery also has its own restaurant. Cepa 21 produces wines with excellent presentation and modern appeal: fruity and fresh; a true demonstration of the potential of the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape. To achieve this, it relies on 50 hectares of estate-owned vineyards, most of which are located around the winery at an altitude between 780 and 850 m.
Aware that high-quality raw materials are an essential condition for creating great wines, the winery conducts a thorough selection of plots and soil analysis prior to planting, along with meticulous viticulture practices (green pruning, cluster thinning...). Harvesting is done plot by plot, and the grape clusters go through a selection table. The Cepa 21 winery also stands out for its commitment to technology: the entire vineyard is monitored with field sensors, Internet of Things, satellites… The most innovative technology is used to record all parameters (humidity, wind, or plant stress).
Enjoy their Tempranillo Cepa 21 2022.
