General Information

Harmonious, elegant, and refined. These are the adjectives that Celler Oliveda bestows upon its Cava Família Oliveda Brut Nature, a delightful coupage of macabeo and xarel·lo, sourced from the vineyards planted on the slopes of the Albera mountains, in the Gerundense area of Capmany. The tramontana wind that blows in the region and the sandstone and granite soils where the vines grow give great uniqueness to the grapes.

This character, along with traditional winemaking in the cellar, following the méthode champenoise, where the wine underwent the second fermentation inside the bottle, and included an 18-month aging on the lees, resulted in a cava with a slightly toasted aroma and subtle flavors of fine herbs and nuts. Enhance the organoleptic characteristics of Cava Família Oliveda Brut Nature by pairing it with select appetizers, Iberian cold cuts, typical Mediterranean dishes, and fine desserts.

Tasting notes

With a straw yellow color and delicate golden edges, it surprises with its very fine bubbles.

On the nose, it appears refined with a slight toasted note, a result of its careful aging on lees.

On the palate, it stands out for the harmonious balance between freshness and smoothness. Refined finish with hints of fine herbs and nuts.

The winery

Settled in the municipality of Capmany, in the Alt Empordà (Girona), Celler Oliveda is a winery founded in 1948 by Josep Oliveda Casanovas and his wife Joana Rigau Ros. Currently, the company dedicated to the production of still wines, cavas, and liqueurs is managed by the third generation of the family saga, represented by Alfons Freixa Oliveda.

In its 51 hectares of vineyards, Celler Oliveda combines the cultivation of native varieties such as garnacha tinta, samsó (cariñena), xarel.lo, macabeo, moscatel, and parellada, with other foreign ones like chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, or pinot noir. From these, it produces and markets wines under three different designations of origin: Empordà, Catalunya, and Cava.
