General Information

Directly from the heart of the Itata Valley, the cradle of the winemaking tradition of the Andean country, comes La Causa País 2017, a different red wine that surprises the palate with its freshness and rustic nuances.

Miguel Torres Chile undertook the interesting endeavor in that production area of reviving old native varieties like moscatel or país, the latter used exclusively in La Causa País 2017. Its great aging potential convinced Spanish missionaries centuries ago to introduce it to the New World in order to produce sacramental wine. Nowadays, its juicy, aromatic, and light character makes it the ideal choice for quality everyday consumption.

Tasting notes

In appearance, it presents a beautiful red color with violet hues.

Nose dominated by aromas of wild red fruits and intensely spiced notes.

In the tasting phase, it is round and firm. With rustic tannins typical of the variety and an extremely long finish that invites you to enjoy another glass.

The winery

Miguel Torres Chile was the first foreign winemaking company to establish itself in this country of the Southern Cone. The Torres family, a centenary saga with a presence in the Spanish denominations Penedès, Priorat, Catalunya, Costers del Segre, Conca de Barberà, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Rías Baixas, and Rioja, made the leap to the New World in 1979 to start a new project in the Curicó Valley, attracted by the great winemaking potential of Chile.

Currently, the company owns more than a thousand hectares of vineyards, distributed across plots with diverse climatic and soil characteristics, enabling the cultivation of different varieties and producing highly expressive wines with intense varietal character. Miguel Torres Chile has fully consolidated its position in the country, and its wines are now present in over a hundred other countries. Since 2010, Miguel Torres Maczassek, a member of the fifth generation of the family, has held the presidency of the company. Among his objectives are increasing exports and maintaining the company’s successful trajectory, marked by innovation and a commitment to organic farming and fair trade.
