The Casa del Valle winery has inherited the philosophy of the château the Olarra group owns in Yepes, in the province of Toledo.

Seeking to expand its business, the Olarra group started up a new winery in the region of La Mancha. This new firm, established in 2000, is underpinned by the group’s three decades of winemaking experience in Rioja. Following an exhaustive search for the ideal location, the group purchased Finca Valdelagua, the estate that’s now home to Casa del Valle and its 82 hectares of vineyards, where international varieties are prominent. It makes these marvellous wines from its own grapes:

Hacienda Casa del Valle Syrah 2022 is a single-varietal made from a careful selection of grapes. It’s been aged for 6 to 8 months in French and American oak barrels and is moreish and well-structured with ripe fruit and a dark-roast finish.

Hacienda Casa del Valle Selección Especial 2022 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah and has also been aged for 6 to 8 months in American and French oak barrels. Aromas of flowers and ripe red fruit give way to spicy, nutty and smoky notes. Fleshy, full-bodied, mouth-filling and very long on the palate.

And last in this pick is the top Finca Valdelagua 2019, a red that’s among the firm’s most select wines. It was designed from a careful selection of the same three varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, and has been barrel aged for longer: 12 months.

General Information

Hacienda Casa del Valle Syrah 2022

Hacienda Casa del Valle Syrah 2022 is moreish wine with good structure, ripe fruity flavours and a dark-roast finish. It was made from grapes grown on the Finca Valdelagua estate located in the Tajo valley in Yepes (Toledo). This estate is home to the winery and vineyards of Casa del Valle, which is owned by the Olarra group.

This interesting single-varietal is the result of a careful selection of grapes. They were harvested at night to ensure maximum quality and avoid the high daytime temperatures.

Hacienda Casa del Valle Selección Especial 2022

Hacienda Casa del Valle Selección Especial 2022 is made from a delicious blend of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 30% Syrah, varieties that grow on the Finca Valdelagua estate in the Tajo valley, and was aged for 6 to 8 months in American and French oak barrels. The three varieties were vinified separately with controlled fermentation at temperatures of under 25º C. Maceration was between 10 and 15 days, depending on the grape variety. Following blending, the wine spent 6 to 8 months in American and French oak barrels.
