Bodegas Viyuela is gaining a foothold as a major player and a leading name in Ribera del Duero. In 2019, for instance, it was recognised by Mundus Vini as the best winery in this Denominación. It’s now introducing Carramonte Crianza 2021 – a red made exclusively for Vinoselección whose 2020 version we offered you a while ago. The quality of this 2021 vintage, rated Excellent in the D.O., convinced us not to wait any longer to repeat the experience. Enjoy now this magnificent Tempranillo designed in the municipality of Boada de Roa in the province of Burgos, in the heart of the Denominación. It’s intense and fleshy, with smooth tannins, a silky mouthfeel and a fresh finish.

General Information
Carramonte Crianza 2021 comes with the guarantees of a vintage with an Excellent rating in Ribera del Duero, and was grown in Tempranillo vineyards located in Boada de Roa, in the heart of Ribera del Duero. These vines, 30 years old on average, were harvested by hand. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and a further 12 months in the bottle, it’s an excellent red wine that you’ll only find at Vinoselección.
The appearance of Bodegas Viyuela in 2003 brought a breath of fresh air to the well-established D.O. Ribera del Duero. It was founded by José Ángel González Viyuela, a native of the Burgos municipality of Boada de Roa and a member of a family who have been cultivating vines for generations. Since its first launch on the market, Viyuela’s wines have enjoyed prestige and a good reception, winning awards both nationally and internationally. In the last five years, the winery has undergone a revamp that has further strengthened its reputation as a leading name in the D.O.
Carramonte Crianza 2021 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is ideal with tripe and grilled lamb chops.

Imponente en su juventud, elegante en su madurez. En nariz se aprecian recuerdos de bayas negras y fruta madura en armonía con notas especiadas, toque balsámico y fondo floral muy sugerente y personal. En boca resulta intenso, carnoso, de suaves taninos con tacto envolvente y sedoso. Final fresco y amplio en retronasal.
The winery
Bodegas Viyuela was founded by José Ángel González Viyuela, a native of Boada de Roa (Burgos) and a member of a family linked for generations to vine cultivation, mainly in the municipality of Pedrosa. After years dedicated to viticulture, in 2003 José Ángel González Viyuela decided to undertake a sophisticated project focused on quality within the framework of the D.O. Ribera del Duero. He currently remains at the helm of Bodegas Viyuela as President, while his daughter, Laura González Sainz, serves as General Manager.
Bodegas Viyuela relies on 23 hectares of its own vineyard of the tempranillo variety -and 10 additional controlled hectares- to produce its two ranges: the Classic line (Viyuela Barrica, Viyuela Crianza, and Viyuela Reserva) and the Signature line (Viyuela 3+3, Viyuela 10, and Viyuela Xº Aniversario). Since its market launch, Bodegas Viyuela wines have enjoyed prestige and acceptance, earning numerous awards and medals, both nationally and internationally.
