General Information

Can Axartell Corum 2022 is an outstanding young white from the Can Axartell house. A monovarietal Malvasía from vineyards cultivated in a northeast-southwest orientation on calcareous clay soils, which endowed this sweet wine with good structure and complexity.

The Can Axartell winery was founded in 2013 and, since then, has been producing wines that aspire to be the purest expression of Mallorcan winemaking tradition. Designed around the gravity method, the winery combines traditional legacy with current techniques and trends, thus local grape varieties coexist with foreign grapes in a perfect ecosystem. Since the first vineyard was planted, the winery has 34 hectares of vineyards on the estate and 22 more hectares scattered across the island of Mallorca.

For the production of this white framed in the I.G.P. Vi de la Terra Mallorca, a manual harvest of the Malvasía fruits was carried out, and after pressing, the must underwent fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Subsequently, the wine was aged on its lees for 10 months in French oak fudres. With a limited production, Can Axartell Corum 2022 pairs ideally with white fish, soft cheeses, and legume salad.

Tasting notes

Pale yellow color with golden notes, clear and bright.

On the nose, it shows its high aromatic intensity, a result of the expression of the malvasía variety and the work with fine lees. Varietal notes with hints of vanilla, cream, and nuts, followed by floral aromas with memories of stone and tropical fruits. Pleasant spicy finish provided by the French oak.

On the palate, it presents a certain complexity, with its great length in the mouth standing out, a result of the good acidity of the malvasía. It has a broad and silky entry, thanks to the aging on lees. Overall, it is a fresh, enveloping wine with a certain structure.

The winery

Can Axartell is the perfect combination of tradition and modernity when it comes to Mallorcan viticulture. The estate, which includes vineyards, forests, mountains, and streams, was abandoned until the 1990s, when the first vineyards were planted under the principles of certified organic production.

The innovative and modern winery was built in 2012, with a philosophy that continues to this day: respect for the grape, the environment, the people who help produce it, and, of course, the people who enjoy these wines. Following this way of doing things, the first wines were bottled in 2013, and since then, the attention garnered by this Balearic island winery has steadily grown.

The Can Axartell winery produces a rosé wine, two white wines, three red wines, and a selection of limited-edition wines. These wines aim to be an expression of Mallorcan winemaking tradition while also representing the new changes being made in the production of these wines. For this reason, local grape varieties coexist with foreign ones in a perfect ecosystem.

With the idea of offering the utmost respect for the wine, it is treated in the best possible way. As a result, the winery was designed around the gravity method, meaning that the grapes and wine move exclusively by gravity.

In short, Can Axartell produces wines that are the perfect companion for meals, but their true perfection lies in their ability to reflect the soul of the island of Mallorca.
