Following the success achieved by the two previous vintages, Campillo surprises us once again with a new edition of a Crianza that you will only find at Vinoselección. Campillo Edición Limitada Crianza 2022 reaffirms the commitment of this unique winery, one of the few in Spain that embodies the château concept, where the vineyard surrounds the winery itself, creating a perfect symbiosis between the Rioja Alavesa environment and the winemaking process.

Campillo Edición Limitada Crianza 2022 is the reflection of demanding and selective viticulture, made from Tempranillo vines aged between 30 and 60 years. The grapes come from carefully selected plots, owned by the family, located around Laguardia, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. These vines grow on well-drained clay-limestone soils and offer moderate yields of approximately 5,500 kg per hectare. The harvest is carried out manually, ensuring the integrity of the fruit.
Campillo Edición Limitada Crianza 2022 ages for at least 12 months in 225-liter American oak barrels, with medium and medium-plus toasting. The entire process, from barrel work to bottling, is done in an artisanal manner.
Considered a ‘boutique’ winery within the Familia Martínez Zabala group (formerly Grupo Faustino), Campillo represents the most exclusive and avant-garde facet of this centenary saga. Its innovative architecture, which marked a turning point in winery design, remains a benchmark.
Finally, Campillo Edición Limitada Crianza 2022 is an excellent choice to pair with delicate grilled fish and charcoal-grilled or stewed meats.
Campillo (1990) is one of the wineries that marked the modernity of Rioja and one of the most representative wineries of Rioja Alavesa. Located in Laguardia, the heart of Rioja Alavesa, it is considered the ‘boutique’ and most exclusive winery of the Faustino Group: one of the major winemaking groups in the country, led by a centenary lineage. With Campillo, Julio Faustino Martínez fulfilled his dream of creating a winery inspired by the French ‘châteaux,’ as he pursued an innovative concept, with the vineyards surrounding the facilities. Additionally, Campillo was one of the first ventures into avant-garde architecture, and its impressive facilities remain highly relevant today.
Campillo aims to offer in its wines the maximum expression of tempranillo. To achieve this goal, the Faustino Group - now renamed as Familia Martínez Zabala - decided to establish this project in the area of Laguardia, where they acquired 50 hectares of vineyards. Later, they expanded this viticultural heritage with 50 more hectares near the Sierra de Cantabria. In total, 100 hectares of vineyards - distributed within a maximum distance of 10 km from the winery - are cultivated on poor soils that provide low yields of highly structured fruits with good acidity, perfect for crafting expressive wines capable of enduring long aging in oak and with great aging potential. Elegance, freshness, and a fruity profile perfectly integrated with barrel notes are the defining characteristics of their wines.
