General Information

The great tradition of Domaines Ott in the production of rosés is reflected in the magnificent BY.OTT Rosé 2023, a pleasant and elegant wine made from a carefully measured coupage of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and Monastrell varieties.

For its production, the grapes were selected and harvested manually from the 70 hectares of vineyard of the Provençal winery, cultivated on schist and limestone soils. Upon arrival at the winery, the whole clusters were gently pressed and, after a very short maceration, the must fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.

Domaines Ott is a winery founded by Marcel Ott, an Alsatian agronomist who, while traveling through France in 1896, discovered the ideal location for his project in Provence. 120 years later, cousins Christian and Jean-François Ott took over the firm under the umbrella of the great Louis Roederer brand. Currently, the winery consists of three estates (Château de Selle, Clos Mireille, and Château Romassan) where some of the best rosés in the world are produced.

Falling within the A.O.C. Côtes de Provence, BY.OTT Rosé is assembled and bottled in the new winery at Château de Selle, which has a dedicated barrel room exclusively for this purpose. This ensures total control over the blend and wines with great consistency year after year.

BY.OTT Rosé 2023 is a fresh, fruity, and very pleasant rosé that pairs perfectly with all kinds of Mediterranean dishes, smoked foods, appetizers, and sushi.

Domaines Ott

Domaines Ott originates from the vision of the Alsatian agricultural engineer Marcel Ott. In 1896, Ott traveled through various wine regions in search of the ideal lands to start his winemaking project, and it was in the Provence area where he found his dream location.

Before his arrival, phylloxera had wreaked havoc across the Mediterranean region, and Marcel decided to acquire new properties in the area with the goal of rehabilitating the land for vine cultivation. His aim was to create high-quality wines from noble grape varieties.

Thus, in 1912, Marcel Ott acquired Château de Selle, the property that marked the official foundation of his winery and the beginning of his winemaking journey. To this estate, he added Clos Mireille in 1936 and Château Romassan in 1956. These three properties, two of which are classified as Cru Classé of Côtes de Provence, now form the Domaines Ott brand.

The winery produces white, rosé, and red wines under a philosophy of respect for nature and family tradition. A treasure of delicacy reigns in their cellars. Since 1930, they have produced the famous Rosé Coeur de Grain (heart of the grain), considered by many as one of the best rosé wines in the world. The founder's son, Rene Ott, designed an original bottle in the 1930s to distinguish this wine from others that were served in carafes. A true work of art inspired by the Provençal hillsides and cypress trees.

Since 2004, Domaines Ott has been part of the great wine empire Louis Roederer, though it continues to be led by the fourth generation of the family (Jean-François Ott and Christian Ott).
