Bordón Reserva 2019 is a Tempranillo from the historic Bodegas Franco-Españolas born in a vintage rated as Excellent in Rioja. It is balanced, deep and complex.

Bordón Reserva 2019 is produced from a very careful selection of Tempranillo and has an ageing designed to gain balance without losing its identity. It is a very classic Rioja and spends at least 18 months in French oak barrels and American white oak (Ohio) barrels, before being refined for 9 months in bottle.

The grapes feeding Bordón Reserva 2019 come from vineyards in Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Media, on the slopes of the Sierra de la Demanda facing north. That combination of origins and soils adds diversity to the whole and helps to create a Rioja with a serious profile, good structure, and a very faithful expression of its origin.

Bodegas Franco-Españolas, founded in 1890 in Logroño, sustains this wine with a classical and precise vision, closely linked to vineyard care and to winemaking that respects time. The result is a Reserva recognised with the Gold Medal at the Brussels World Wine Competition and high international scores, a solid reference within the house.

Vineyard

Description

Bordón Reserva 2019 arises from vineyards spread across Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Media, situated on the slopes of the Sierra de la Demanda, over different soil types that contribute complexity and character to the whole. The northern orientation of these plots promotes a more moderate sun exposure, key to maintaining the freshness and balance of the grape. A diverse and well-defined origin that is reflected in an elegant, serious Reserva with a pronounced personality.

Tasting notes

View

Garnet colour with ruby tones and a medium-to-high layer, lively and elegant in the glass.

Nose

Bordón Reserva 2019 unveils on the nose spicy and ripe red fruit notes, with cherry taking centre stage, and then adds hints of jam, toffee and chocolate that give depth and a very seductive profile.

Mouth

In the mouth it is savoury, full-bodied and balanced, with a wide and elegant palate that invites you to keep drinking. Its fruity character accompanies a well-defined structure naturally, while the finish, long and serious, leaves a mature and aromatic impression of great finesse.

The winery

Bodegas Franco-Españolas
Bodegas Franco-Españolas is a true benchmark among the historic wineries of our country. Founded in 1890 by the Frenchman Frederick Anglade, from the Anglade firm, together with other Spanish partners (hence the name “Franco-Españolas”), it is now entirely Spanish-owned and has been in the hands of the Eguizábal family since 1983.

Located in the heart of Logroño, Bodegas Franco-Españolas caters to the current tastes of consumers while respecting the winery's historical legacy, because, as they themselves state, “there are few things better than a good classic.” Its facilities, featuring elegant architecture, span 59,000 square meters, and its underground cellars house 15,000 barrels where their Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva wines are aged.
