For many experts, the best Italian wines are born in the Piedmont region, in the north of the country. Bonfante & Chiarle Gessara 2016 is a single-varietal Barbera (the third most planted red grape in the country) aged in oak for 12 months. It stands out for its complexity and the perfect integration of the wood into the whole.

Bonfante & Chiarle Gessara 2016 is made from the barbera grape, the third most planted red grape variety in the country. The vineyards it comes from are located on the hills to the right of the Belbo stream, at about 150 meters above sea level, on clay and limestone soils. It undergoes 12 months of aging in wood and at least 18 additional months in the bottle.
Thanks to its classic style, Gessara is one of the most representative wines of the Bonfante & Chiarle winery. It displays an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it is complex, with notes of red fruits, cherries, vanilla, coffee beans, and cocoa. On the palate, it is a wine with good structure, balanced, with a velvety texture, and a long finish with spicy hints.
Bonfante & Chiarle Gessara 2016 is a red wine that pairs perfectly with meat dishes such as medallions of Iberian pork tenderloin in mustard sauce or with veal risotto.
